I have just received a new Black and Decker Horizontal Breadmaker (model 2300). Only trouble is there are almost no recipes in the manual and it makes only 2 and 3 lb. loaves. I have used breadmakers before but would like some additional recipes for this larger machine. (my first try was a disaster!)

Same problem. Looking for specific B2300 recipes especially for 3 pound loafs.

I also received the same Breadmaker as a gift for Christmas. I tried the sandwich bread in the manual and it is good, however, I may need to adjust a couple of things because it was too damp.

Searching for new recipes to make smaller bread, I found manuals from other "black and decker" breadmaker such as the B2000 and B2005 which are pretty much similar but make only 2lb loaves.

Go to Operating Instructions and Cookbook for: Black & Decker All-In-One Horizontal Breadmaker B2000 or Black & Decker All-In-One Horizontal Breadmaker B2005 to check the recipes as well as a good troubleshooting guide.

I'll keep you informed

Thanks to the person posting the link to the other models' pdf's. I'll make good use of that! With recipes for 2 lbs, simply multiply everything by 1.5, and select the 3 lbs size (only do this for cooking method that actually allow size selection). After a few breads, you'll fine-tune the proportions and you should be ok.

Mind you, the 2 lbs size makes for perfect sandwich size slices... :)

I recently bought a Black and Decker B2300 breadmaker to replace an older, heavily used Black and Decker B2005.

I have tried the same recipes that worked just fine in the B2005 but the new breadmaker overcooks the bread so much that the crust is dark brown and the paddles stick very firmly into the bottom of the loaf and often will not release the bread from the breadmaker without a lot of vigorous shaking.

Has anybody else had this experience with the B2300?

Are there any adjustments I can make to the recipes that might help with this problem?

Thanks in advance,

Don.

Thank you for the other recipes! I am going to use these recipes as well. The manual only has a few select recipes and I don't know why they do not include these other bread variations! So thank you again for taking the time to show us the other model's recipes!

Don -

I too bought the B2300 to replace my old B2005 and am I extremly disapointed! I have tried the recipes from the B2005 manual and they don't work! They don't rise and turn out to be just a hard pile of dough! Yuck!

When I make dough it's hit or miss and it doesn't always turn out which is incredibly frustrating!

The very first loaf I made turned out but stuck to the bottom of the pan and after shaking the pan for what seemed like hours!

This just doesn't seem to compare to the B2005! I'm thinking about pitching this one in the garbage and going out to by another B2005 if I can find one!

Thanks for letting me vent and glad to know there is someone else out there struggling with this!

I have also found that the bread overcooks if left for the full time. I remove the bread 30 minutes before the time is up and it usually turns out pretty good.

I also use a book called Breadmaker's Guide by Jan Thomson, ISBN 1-57416-049-4, Clear Light Publishing. I find it pretty good. She gives directions for bread machines for all her recipes and I've tried a couple and they've worked well.

One recipe that I use now is:

1 1/2 cups spelt flour
1 cup multigrain flour
1/2 cup white flour
1/4 cup honey
1 tbsp olive oil
1 to 1 1/4 cups water
2 1/4 tsp yeast
1 tsp salt

I add flaxseed meal, sunflower seeds, flax seeds and sesame seeds for a really healthy multigrain bread. But I take it out 30 minutes early. Also watch the water and flour content. Sometimes I have to add more flour at the add-ingredients beep.

I've played with versions of this and this seems to be the best but you can play with the quantities - I just make sure that I use 3 cups of flour total.

Hope this helpls.

I just bought a Black and Decker B2300, my first experience with baking was fine but for the kneading paddles that remain in the bread. Has anyone find a solution for this not to happen. I would appreciate tips on this.

Thanks a million.

I bought a Black and Decker 2300 at Canadian Tire over the Christmas season. I was amazed at the lack of information in the manual and there were only a handful of recipes. The 2300 leaves me very frustrated. The loaves seldom turn out well and I am frequently left with a heavy ball of hard, hot dough in the bottom after 3 hours of waiting for fresh bread. I'm going to pitch mine in the garbage and try another maker's unit.

I bought this bread maker when my earlier version gave up the ghost. I have been disppointed with every effort. I am going to try the Bread Machine Magic book and see if that help.

Hello to all of you B2300 bread machine owners!

My first loaf, in February, was as hard as a rock!!! All of my friends extoll the virtues of these machines. I've tasted their bread and it's great! I am usually a pretty good cook, but not when it comes to this.

So glad to know that I am not alone.

I got this bread machine for christmas and the first loaf was hard as rock, I am so disappointed in the recipes that came with this machine. Does anyone have a whole wheat recipe that works.

I recently bought a Black and Decker B2300 and think it's fantastic. I have made about 10 different kinds of bread (two and three pound loaves) and dough, and have only had one loaf that was a little heavy. We found the three pound loaves a little too big so I get my two pound recipes off the internet. The first loaf was a little overcooked so now I always bake on the light setting. Sometimes the paddles come out on their own and sometimes I have to cut them out. I think it depends on the type of bread. It's really isn't much of an inconvenience. My only complaint is that I find the display hard to read in dim light.

Ya really! Why the heck do those stupid kneading things get stuck in my beautiful loaf of bread? AND THEN I have to ruin the bottom of it to get them out!? GEESH!! I thought maybe something was wrong with me! ha ha! (what a relief that im not the only one experiencing this!)
Any suggestions?

Thanks so much for the site for the older recipe book.
I gave mine away with the old breadmaker and this - the B2300 has a truly pathetic instruction book.

I tried my first loaf of bread in my new B2300 machine and I used a 2 pound setting for cinnamon raisin bread, with the recipe from my old machine. It came out so small! My old B$D machine made vertical loaves but they were really big. Are you able to use the old recipe books (if you had an older B$D model)? I seem to see a lot of complaints about this particular model and the few recipes that come with the machine are not what I want to make!

to get the paddles out of baked bread we stick in a plastic chopstick into the hole in the paddle's bottom and give a little twist and a pull and the paddles come out quite neatly.

I got a B2300 for Christmas this year and I cannot get a loaf of bread out of it that will slice! They all come out so soft that the second I put a knife to it, I sqaush the whole life!
I can't seem to find ANY recipes for this breadmaker. I can't convert the recipe into how heavy it's going to be... how am I supposed to know if it's a 2, 2.5, or 3 lb loaf? I can't weigh all the ingredients together, and I have no idea how to estimate this as I grew up in the metric era. If somebody could just post a recipe for a 2.0lb loaf of white sandwich bread, I would be eternally greatful (because the 3.0lb one in the manual does not work...) THANK YOU!
