Atkins - oh, how I remember the smell of that place in the fall!
Misc.I had forgotten all about that wonderful place! My mom and I used to make a long day of it in the fall and hit some of the apple farms, and then end up at Atkins - and the smell of the apples, the fresh breads baking and the beautiful decorations and fall colors - I do miss that (just not the snow that follows!)
Certainly pierogis are easily frozen, but I've never had enough left of the galombkies to freeze - we usually only have a couple left and they're even better the next day warmed up for lunch.
You don't find those huge heads of cabbage anywhere in FL - I've only seen them out in the fertile lowlands of Sunderland and Whately in farm stands or Atkins and the local stores - I wonder now if that's a special variety used in that area because of such a large Polish population there. They are perfect for galombkies - sometimes I've had to get two of those small heads in order to make this recipe - there's just not enough leafs in one head for this recipe.
Maybe you should just try this recipe and not tell your DH you're doing it - I guarantee that when he walks into that house and smells that wonderful aroma he'll like them.
Love, June
