Recipe: Breakfast Puffs (muffins rolled in butter and cinnamon sugar, 1960's)

1 1/2 cups sifted flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 /4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/3 cup shortening
1 /2 cup sugar
1 egg
1/2 cup milk
1/4 cup butter or margarine, melted
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease 12 muffin pan cups.
Sift together flour, baking powder, salt and nutmeg; set aside.
Cream thoroughly shortening and sugar. Add egg and beat well.
Alternately add dry ingredients and milk, stirring only until dry ingredients are moistened. Pour into prepared muffin tin, filling 2/3 full.
Bake in 350 degree F oven for 20 to 25 minutes. Immediately roll each muffin top in butter, then in mixture of sugar and cinnamon.
Makes 12 muffins
