Black Labs

Misc.

Gee, I must have had the world's best black lab. Actually, I hated the clumsy oaf of a dog when my former hubby brought him home. But the dog persisted in adopting me, and he didn't dig up or tear up the yard....well, we had a huge backyard, and he wore a path all around it just inside the fence, but that was all. He always positioned himself between me and any stranger. Chased teenagers away from our windows when I was home alone with my babies. Chased away a car full of older teenage boys... gang members, I think... when we were walking around the neighborhood. The boys called him "devil dog" (perro diablo), and took off fast. When my ex got paranoid-schizo, I had to gather up my kids and find a safer home.... my folks' place half a nation away. The worst thing the dog did was, when he took me for a walk, I'd return with one arm longer than the other ... or that's how it felt, anyway. Unfortunately, I had to find him a new home because the macho men in the neighborhood would shoot their guns from upstairs windows at this poor dog who wasn't a noisy nuisance!
