The recipe for these apples sounds great!!!!! They are do similar to ones served in the Plantation homes years back....The bacon was fried first...until very crispy and the sliced apples were simmered in the bacon fat and spiced. They were mounded on a platter surrounded with the crip bacon....also on the menu would be grits swirled with grated cheese, huge biscuits with fresh strawberry preserves, fried slices of ham and pork sausage patties. Huge platters of scrambled eggs, of course and perhaps a couple of kinds of freshly caught fish....catfish or trout also fried in a cornmeal batter!! There was also some type of foul like quail or cornish hens or even stewed chicken....Imagine all this just for breakfast!!
