Dinner fast and easy...

Misc.

Hey all !!!

Well, the kitchen is now 3/4 finished, but not before many latenights of scraping and painting, although the work is long, it truly is very satisfying. The kitchen is now much brighter, and certainly more inviting. I guess, as the entertaining goddess, Martha S. would probably say, "It's a good thing." !

Dinner last night was simple, BBQ chicken on the grill served with rice and flavorful Spanish style beans. Very few dishes... which was a must since all of the cupboards are covered with drop cloths.

Tonight, it's turned a bit colder here in NYC, with rain and all. So this evening, another quickie of sauteed mushrooms (cremini, portabello, shitaki and white button) in a bit of butter. Then served over bowtie pasta, and then drizzled with truffle flavored olive oil. a sprinkling of pecorino romano and we're in buisness!!

This coming weekend I am going to be experimenting with an interesting new treatment I want to try on my kitchen cabinets. When it is completed it will look like porcelin that has cracked or in antique terms "crazed". It's very unique and I am eager for a conversation piece or two... I also want to paint the formica counter tops that are presently the old butcher block look that was popular in the late 70's early 80's, and then polyurathene them. Not sure how its going work... but for a few hundred dollars we can't complain, since we basically feel like we have a totally new kitchen, something to tide us over until we can AFFORD to do the kitchen the way WE want.

Well... Happy cooking, and I'll try not to be too scarce here during all of the work. Its always so nice to sit down with everyone...and as always, great to see new faces!!!
