Halloween

Misc.

I agree that Halloween is getting more dangerous all the time and wonder what ever happened to the good old days! One place we lived, we went only to the houses of people we knew, which worked quite well. Another place, we had a 3 house trick or treat party - the kids just kept going from one house to the next, each house having a different treat or activity. We had a scavenger hunt for treats at one house, we had a video at another, and at the third, the kids got to trick or treat at every door IN the house. It was a safe evening. For handouts, I try to stick with pencils, stickers, etc because, as has been mentioned, you don't know what was done to the candy before you buy it. One person I know hands out nickels each year. Another friend just turns off the lights and heads for the basement with her own family. Some shopping malls now have trick or treat nights too.
