I'll do the honours, shall I?

For those of you Yanks that don't know it, we Canucks went metric back in the 80's. You were invited for the trip, but declined. Now, I'm not an I-told-you-so kind of person, but I'm sure you can see the folly of your bad decision. Today's dilemma is directly attributable, and some would leave you to suffer for it, as a well-deserved consequence, but, hey, (or should I say "eh"?), like I said, I'm not like that, so here you go, manyhats, and I agree these taters look delicious!

500 g. potatoes is just over 1 lb. (1 lb=454 g.)

1 rasher=1 slice (as you correctly surmised)

a green shallot is a green onion, not actually what we call shallots here in Canada. You know the ones with a long green stem, quite mild. A spring onion?

300 grams sour cream is just over a 1/4 pint. 500 g. is just about a half pint. Oh, for Pete's sake, just spread it over the top, like Janice says!
