June....Some Answers for You
Misc. Hi June,
Yes, marinade all day long, it's better that way and the juices tenderize as well as flavor the meat.
Now about your sister...you can do all sorts of wonderful things with her using our other senses. Go to a symphony or any other type of music forum where you both can sit and enjoy the music. Go to the beach at this time of the year and enjoy a picnic, listen to the seagulls, pick up a shell and listen to the echo, walk along the seashore and dig your feet into the wet sand. Spend an afternoon making cookies together where she can do the rolling while you both reminisce about your past adventures or childhood.
Here is a good cookie recipe that requires rolling the dough before baking:Mexican Wedding Cookies
makes 3 dozen
2 sticks butter, softened
1/2 c. sugar
1 2/3 c. flour
2/3 c. finely ground almonds
confectioner's sugar
Preheat oven to 300. Grease a cookie sheet.
In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar. Gradually add the flour and almonds and mix til just blended. Roll a level tablespoonful of dough into balls and place about 1 inch apart on the cookie sheet. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until slightly browned.
Transfer to a rack to cool, then sprinkle heavily with confectioner's sugar to coat. And if she loves to eat, why take her to the fruit and vegetable market and let her help you pick out the best bananas, berries, green or red peppers and other delightfully aromatic items to make up a great dinner!
Another great idea, is to go for a manicure and a pedicure, oh what a delight for the senses that is!! A pedicure alone can put one to sleep!!! It's like floating to Heaven and back!!! She'll love it as you both converse....
I am sure you both are going to have a wonderful time eating and cooking but the best will be time spent together listening to each other and what is going on in the world around us!!
Enjoy!! Gina
