I think you'll find it helpful to go back several pages on this board and review answers to Post No. 64 "What is problem with choco chip cookies" written by Nicky on 12-23-00. Many of us agreed that when you bake chocolate chip cookies with all butter, they are tasty but flat. My "standard" recipe now is one posted by Lori D./FL some time ago called Beth's Chocolate Chip Cookies - you'll see that I mentioned it last month too. You can find it easily with the search. It uses half butter and half shortening and all light brown sugar. DO NOT overbake them and you will have delicious soft and chewy chocolate chip cookies. Because it's a little more batter than the recipe on the choc. chip bag, I add maybe an additional 1/4 cup of chocolate chips than the 12-oz. (2 cups) called for in Beth's recipe.
