hi! My grandmother is Slovak and the thing that sticks out in my mind from growing up is that poppy seed or nut bread! My family made it often and was often eaten as a snack. You may find it in Hungarian recipes being called cake or bread. I found one really good cook book- Along the Danube- I don't remember the author. Hope it helps!
