Recipe: Baked French Doughnuts (baked in a muffin pan)

Breakfast and Brunch
BAKED FRENCH DOUGHNUTS

5 tablespoons margarine
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 cups flour
2 1/4 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 cup milk
FOR THE TOPPING:
6 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Cream margarine and sugar thoroughly. Add egg. Mix well. Add sifted dry ingredients, alternately with milk. Fill buttered muffin tins half full.

Bake at 350 degrees F for 20 to 25 minutes. Remove from tins. Roll in butter, then in cinnamon and sugar mixture.
