I make these every Halloween (have made them for years). These are the Best!!
I coat these with crushed up Butterfinger bars or M&M's, then dip a fork in melted chocolate and sweep across the apples decoratively. We give them as gifts to our neighbors.
Note: As with any homemade caramel, the right temperature is crucial. One year I cooked the caramel a little too long and we had very sore jaws! (test your thermometer 1st to make sure it is accurate).
