Recipe: Cranberry Scones with Grand Mariner Butter

Cranberry Scones with Grand Mariner Butter

1 3/4 cups flour
1/3 cup sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
2/3 cup buttermilk
1/3 cup butter -- melted
1/3 cup dried cranberries, cherries or other fruit

GRAND MARNIER BUTTER
1 1/2 sticks butter, softened
2 tablespoons confectioner's sugar
3 teaspoons orange zest
2 tablespoons Grand Marnier
2 tablespoons orange juice
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
dash salt

Preheat oven to 350 degrees and lightly grease a baking sheet.

In a large mixing bowl combine all dry ingredients and mix well. Add milk, butter and cranberries and mix until just combined. Drop onto baking sheet using 1/3 cup measure.

Bake until pale golden brown. Serve with Grand Mariner sauce.

GRAND MARINER BUTTER:
Combine butter, sugar and orange zest in the bowl of an electric mixer and beat until fluffy. Slowly add in the Grand Mariner, orange juice, vanilla and salt. Mix well pour into a form and let chill.
