Mini-Chip Orange Scone Drops
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/3 cup granulated sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/3 cup butter or margarine
1/3 cup orange juice
1/3 cup milk
2 tablespoons orange peel -- grated
1/2 cup miniature chocolate chips
Topping:
3 tablespoons granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Preheat oven to 375 degrees; grease cookie sheets.
In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and baking soda; blend well. Using a pastry blender or fork, cut in the margarine until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Add the orange juice, milk and orange peel; stir just until the dry ingredients are moistened. Stir in the chocolate chips. Drop by heaping teaspoonfuls two inches apart onto the cookie sheets.
In a small bowl, combine the sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle over the scones.
Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, or until light golden brown. Immediately remove from the cookie sheets. Serve warm.
