Recipe: Cream Cheese 7 Layer Mexican Dip, Mexican Layered Dip and Seven Layer Dip Variation

Appetizers and Snacks
CREAM CHEESE 7 LAYER MEXICAN DIP

1 package (8 oz.) cream cheese, softened
1 tablespoon taco seasoning
1 cup (each) guacamole, salsa and shredded lettuce
1 cup (4 oz.) shredded sharp cheese
1/2 cup chopped green onions
2 tablespoons sliced pitted ripe olives

Mix cream cheese and seasoning mix. Spread on bottom of 9 inch pie plate or quiche dish. Layer remaining ingredients over cream cheese mixture. Refrigerate.
Serve with tortilla chips. Makes 6 to 8 servings.

NOTE: I know you asked for a recipe that included chili. I think you could easily add chili to the above recipe.

MEXICAN LAYERED DIP

Comments: "It's important that the tomatoes and olives have moisture removed. After chopping, both should be placed between paper towels to remove as much moisture as possible. Also, be sure to seal avocado layer completely with sour cream (this will prevent avocado from turning brown)."

1 can Frito-Lay bean dip (usually found in Potato Chip section;)
2 avocados, mashed
1 cup sour cream
1/3 pkt. taco seasoning mix
8 oz. finely shredded cheddar cheese
4 oz. finely chopped olives
1 large or 2 small finely chopped tomatoes
Chopped scallions

In a pie plate or similar, layer bean dip, mashed avocados, sour cream mixed with taco seasoning mix, cheddar cheese, olives, tomatoes and scallions.
Serve with tortilla chips - a mix of yellow and blue chips is tasty.

SEVEN LAYER DIP VARIATION

I also make the seven layer dip for many party gatherings. In fact, I have accused my friends of only inviting me to parties so I will bring this dip ..... it's always the hit of the party.

Layer the following ingredients:
1. 1-2 cans of Frito-Lay Bean dip (this has more flavor than refried beans).
2. Guacamole
3. 8 oz carton of Sour Cream mixed with 1/2 package of Taco seasoning mix.
4. 4 oz can of sliced black olives
5. Bunch of green onions, sliced
6. 2 tomatoes, diced
7. Grated cheddar cheese

Layer in the order given above. I usually use a large platter and spread the bean dip in a thin layer followed by all the other ingredients in order above.
