Double Tomato Sauce Mix

Dried tomatoes (not oil-packed) make a tomato sauce mix with a unique flavor that pasta lovers will appreciate. Give the recipe for Double-Tomato Sauce along with the mix.

1 cup Dried tomatoes (2 oz)
2 tablespoon Dried parsley
1 tablespoon Dried basil
2 teaspoon Dried marjoram
1/2 teaspoon Hot pepper flakes

With scissors, sliver tomatoes; combine in airtight container with parsley, basil, marjoram and pepper flakes.

Makes about 1 cup.

Double-Tomato Sauce:

In 2 tablespoon olive oil, cook 1 chopped onion and 2 minced garlic cloves over medium heat until softened, about 3 minutes. Add 1/2 cup Mix and 1 can (19 ounces) tomatoes, breaking up tomatoes; simmer for 15 minutes or until thickened. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Makes 3 cups, enough for 4 servings.
