Dutch Apple Cake or Dutch Peach Cake
(Good Housekeeping Magazine, 1949)

Gold Label Dutch Apple Cake (using butter)
(Gold Label Baking Powder, 1930's)

Hi Kathi,

GayR let me know that it might be a Dutch Apple Cake so I did a search of our archives for it and found these recipes. The first uses shortening and fits your description, the second uses butter. If this isn't it please let us know and we'll keep looking. GayR pointed out a recipe from Woman's Day magazine, 1950 that is the same as the Good Housekeeping recipe except it uses 1/8 cup shortening and 4 cups apple slices, then it's baked in a 10x6x2-inch pan at 400 degrees F for about 40 minutes, or until apple are tender. Thanks Gay!

Happy Baking!
