Recipe: Gingerbread Waffles
Breakfast and BrunchGINGERBREAD WAFFLES
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup packed brown sugar (light or dark)
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon ground ginger
1 cup milk
1/3 cup molasses
1/4 cup canola or corn oil
1 large egg
pear sauce or applesauce (for serving)
Preheat your waffle iron.
Combine the flour, baking powder, salt, brown sugar, cinnamon and ginger in a medium bowl. Add the milk, molasses, oil and egg, and stir until well-combined
Ladle batter onto waffle iron until it is just shy of the edge (putting down the lid will press it to the edges). Cook until done. (Timing will vary with your waffle iron and your preference for doneness.)
Serve immediately with pear sauce or applesauce.
Makes 6 large waffles, enough to serve 3 to 6
