Green Almond Chocolate Slices
3/4 cup whole blanched or slivered almonds
1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
3/4 cup sugar
1 egg
1 3/4 cup flour
6 Tbs. cocoa
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
Green Almonds (see below)
Grind almonds in electric blender, stop-and-go fashion.
Cream butter with sugar; beat in egg. Mix almonds, flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt. Gradually mix into creamed mixture.
Shape into logs 1 1/2-inch thick. Pat green almonds onto logs to coat fairly evenly. Chill.
Slice and bake on lightly greased cookie sheets at 350 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes. Cool on wire racks.

In small bowl, mix 1/2 cup very finely chopped almonds with 1/2 teaspoon water, 4 drops yellow food color and 2 drops green food color until evenly tinted.
