I found 85 recipes for Hawaiian banana bread, and they were all virtually
identical. Some said macadamia nuts could be used instead of walnuts; could
that be what you remember as being different from most?
Hawaiian Banana Bread
3 c. flour
2 c. sugar
1 t. baking soda
1 t. salt
1 t. cinnamon
1 c. chopped macadamia nuts (or walnuts)
3 eggs, beaten
1-1/2 c. vegetable oil
2 c. mashed bananas
8 oz. can crushed pineapple, drained,
2 t. vanilla
Combine dry ingredients, stir in nuts. Set aside. Combine wet ingredients. Add
to flour mixture. Stir just until batter is blended. Spoon batter into 2
greased and floured 9x5 loaf pans. Bake at 350 for 1 hour or until done.
