1 egg, beaten
1/3 cup milk
1 1/2 cups flour
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup butter
Coarse salt, toasted sesame seed or poppy seed

Brush off excess flour. Fold dough into thirds to form a 9x3-inch rectangle. Repeat rolling into a 9-inch square and folding in thirds 3 more times. Divide dough in half.
Roll each half of the dough into a 12-inch square. Using a pastry wheel or sharp knife, cut dough into 1 1/2-inch squares, triangles or diamond shapes. Place on an ungreased baking sheet. Using the tines of a fork, prick crackers well. Lightly brush crackers with water. Sprinkle with coarse salt, sesame seed or poppy seed.
Bake in a 300 degree F oven for 20 to 25 minutes or till done. Remove the crackers from the baking sheet and cool on a wire rack.
