Recipe: Italian Meat Pie (using pie shell, ground beef, spaghetti sauce mix)

1 lb. lean ground beef
1/4 lb. Italian sausage (optional)
1/3 cup chopped green bell pepper
1/3 cup chopped onion
3/4 cup water
1 1/2 oz. pkg. spaghetti sauce mix
1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese, divided use
1 (9 inch) pie crust shell (frozen)
1 1/2 cups grated Mozzarella cheese, divided use
Preheat oven 400 degrees F.
Brown beef and sausage in large skillet; drain.
Add green pepper and onion; cook 2 minutes. Stir in 3/4 cup water, tomato paste and spaghetti sauce mix; cover and simmer 10 minutes.
Sprinkle half the Parmesan cheese over bottom of frozen pie shell. Spread half of meat mixture in pie shell. Sprinkle 1 cup Mozzarella cheese over meat. Layer remaining meat and Parmesan cheese. Place pie on cookie sheet.
Bake at 400 degrees F for 15 minutes. Then sprinkle top with remaining Mozzarella cheese. Return to oven until cheese melts (5 minutes).
Freezes well and reheats even better.
Makes 1 pie, 4 servings
