YES!
Jay's was an annual treat for me when I was a kid. It was on Mockingbird Lane at the south end of Love Field; you could get a window booth and watch jets take-off and land right over your head.
Every year for my birthday my parents took me to Jay's for lobster. We could have gotten lobster anywhere, but we went to Jay's for these popovers. The server would come around the room with a basket of dinner rolls and onion popovers. Invariably, if you were at the end of the route, there would be a dozen rolls left and no popovers. If the server came to you first, you'd grab 3 or 4 popovers and leave the rolls. Every 15 minutes or so, a fresh supply would arrive. Incredible!
Imagine my dismay when, on my 19th birthday, we drove down to Mockingbird lane and there was a Burger King where Jay's was supposed to be. I still curse that BK every time I drive past it, even though it's been there for over 25 years.
So I've been searching for these popovers for over 25 years. Jay's was the only place you could get 'em. This recipe is spot-on! Perfect! I just made some, and they're great. Careful with the portions, though. I halved the recipe, and still got 2 dozen popovers.
