I think this caipirinha recipe is pretty spot on and I tried it but I also tried a couple of others and many of them suggest using crushed ice rather than the ice cubes/water combination above (eg: http://www.therealbrazil.com/guide/brazilrecipes.aspx) Maybe it's just personal opinion but I really think the crushed ice works better.
I also suggest adding a couple of fresh mint leaves along with the lime: it might not be strictly authentic but it sure adds to the taste for me!
