Recipe(tried): Low Cost Meals (31 recipes) - Ideas for rach, verwood on
Recipe CollectionsADVERTISEMENT
Hi Rach, Low Cost is a relative term depending on what you have on hand always. If you have a good selection of spices for instance, you wouldn't need to purchase these regularly, but could do a lot with them. I always use what ever is in season veggie wise and fruit wise to keep costs down. I also meal plan so that I only need to go to the store about twice in a two week period. It helps me by using what I have such as a head of lettuce, or a bag of marshmallows, before they go bad. Also if I buy something "special" like a bag of green onions, I try to plan several salads or dishes that use that ingredient. This saves not only money wasted food, but on gas, and also money on "impulse" purchases. Here are a few recipes that can be made for a relatively inexpensive price. All are reposts
MAIN DISHES:
Beef Burgundy and Mushrooms
Beef Tips and Rice
(This makes a lot)
Chicken and Beans
(This makes a huge amount)
Chicken and Spinach
Chicken Casserole
Chopstick Tuna Casserole
Chicken Chunks
(This makes a ton! I keep these on hand)
Chicken Stew (crock pot)
Crockpot Chicken and Rice
Greg's Famous Grilled Fish with Shrimp
Hawaiian Chicken (Cornish Hens) and Stuffing
Lasagna
Macaroni and Cheese
(This is enough for two family sized casseroles. I usually freeze one.)

Wild Rice Salad
