Recipe: Meatloaf with Bacon and Brown Sugar Topping

MEATLOAF WITH TOPPING

FOR THE MEATLOAF:
1 1/2 lb. ground beef (chuck) or turkey
2/3 cup milk
1/2 cup soft bread crumbs
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/4 cup chopped green pepper
1/4 cup tomato juice
1 egg, beaten
2 tsp. salt
FOR THE TOPPING:
1/4 cup ketchup
3 tbsp. brown sugar
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. mustard
4 slices bacon slices to lay on top

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Blend together all the meatloaf ingredients until smooth. Shape into a loaf and place in a 9x5-inch loaf pan.

Mix together topping ingredients, except for the bacon. Pour over meatloaf. Lay bacon on top of meatloaf.

Bake at 350 degrees F for 1 hour.

Servings: 4 to 6
