When making scalloped potatoes, I don't so much follow a recipe as to use a method of making them.
First choose the number of potatoes you want to use. I usually use two average sized potatoes per person and one for the pot.
Second, select a dish large enough for the potatoes and spray with cooking spray. Then turn on the oven to 375 degrees.
Next, peel potatoes and an onion or two. Slice both potatoes and onions. Then in the dish, make a layer of potatoes and onion. Sprinkle with salt and pepper and a thin layer of flour. Create another layer and finish with the flour.
Last, heat milk to reach about 2/3 up the casserole dish. Pour it over the potatoes in the dish. Place in the preheated oven for about an hour and a half. Test by poking a fork into the potatoes to see if they are done and break easily.
I sometimes add cheese to each layer. It's up to you.
