Recipe: No-Bake Nut Bars (using graham cracker crumbs and mixed nuts)

FOR THE BASE:
1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
1/2 cup powdered sugar
2/3 cup margarine or butter, melted
FOR THE FILLING:
2 tablespoons margarine or butter
1 (4 oz.) bar milk chocolate, cut up
1/2 cup light corn syrup
1 (12-oz.) can mixed nuts
FOR THE TOPPING:
1 oz. vanilla-flavored candy coating or white baking bar, cut up
1 teaspoon oil
TO MAKE THE BASE:
In medium bowl, combine crumbs and powdered sugar. Stir in 2/3 cup melted margarine; blend well. Press mixture evenly in bottom of ungreased 8 or 9-inch square pan. Refrigerate 30 minutes or until base is set.
TO MAKE THE FILLING:
In medium saucepan, combine 2 tablespoons margarine, chocolate and corn syrup. Cook over medium- low heat until chocolate is melted, stirring constantly. Add nuts; blend well. Spoon mixture over base.
TO MAKE THE TOPPING:
In small saucepan over low heat, combine candy coating and oil. Cook, stirring constantly, until melted. Drizzle over nut mixture.
Refrigerate until set. Cut into bars.
MICROWAVE DIRECTIONS:
Prepare base as directed.
In 4-cup microwave-safe measuring cup, combine 2 tablespoons margarine, chocolate and corn syrup. Microwave on MEDIUM for 2 to 3 minutes or until chocolate is melted, stirring twice. Stir until smooth. Add nuts; blend well. Spoon mixture over base.
In small microwave-safe bowl, combine candy coating and oil. Microwave on MEDIUM for 30 to 60 seconds or until melted, stirring once. Stir until smooth. Drizzle over nut mixture.
Refrigerate until set. Cut into bars.
Makes 36 bars
