Whoever posted this recipe ROCKS! I've had it since the early 70s and it is the BEST for sugar cookies. I call them butter cookies, though, as they taste exactly like my great-grandmother's from Germany. I'll give you a good hint, too:
add about 1/2 teas. of almond extract to it when you add the vanilla. You can add a couple of drops of it to your icing, if you wish. BEST taste in the world and perfect for gifting at Christmas or any holiday. My family now calls them "Mom's Butter Cookie Recipe".
We live at high altitude, 8500 feet, and don't need the milk and omitting the milk helps the recipe conform to high altitude directions, for any of you that live the 'high life' and wish to try this one. It works wonderfully....
I am writing to THANK whoever posted this, as I can't find my recipe written down anywhere. My poor Fannie Farmer cookbook finally DIED I used it so much and haven't been able to find that same one in the book stores. NOW I have the actual recipe back, and I can't thank you enough !!!!
