Sweet 'N Spicy Kielbasa (crock pot)
rec.food.recipes/Kathleen Pollard/2003
This is one of those easy meals you will make over and over...also good cut into smaller chunks for a great party appetizer!
1 cup packed brown sugar
6 Tbsp. spicy mustard
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 pounds smoked kielbasa, cut into 2-inch pieces
Combine brown sugar, mustard and onion in crock pot; add kielbasa, stirring to evenly coat. Cover and cook on low-heat 2-1/2 to 3 hours, stirring occasionally. Yield: 6 servings
I made this last night and served over rice that had been steamed in beef broth. One pound I bought that I thought was Kielbasa (like the other pound) turned out to be cheddarwurst ( a kielbasa with cheddar inside). I added it in any way. I also added a bit of garlic powder. My husband served it with an Australian Chardonnay a bit on the honeyish side but what a compliment to the meal! It was sooooo tasty - just like you've all said. My DH especially wanted me to mention that it is now on his top 10 list and used the words "instant classic". This is very good! It was also so easy. Would be great for a party.
Many people have reviewed this and loved it.... I add my vote too!! It was wonderful! I did not expect dh (dear husband) to enjoy it much cause he does not like mustard much! He raved about it!!! I used "deli mustard," it was really good, my first attempt at this kind of a dish.
