Recipe: Sweeter Muffins (Betty Crocker Cookbook, 1956)

SWEETER MUFFINS

1 egg
1/2 cup milk
1/4 cup soft shortening
1 1/2 cups flour
1/2 cup sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Grease 12 muffin pan cups.

Mix together egg, milk and corn oil. Stir in flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Batter should be lumpy so do not overmix. Fill prepared muffin tins 2/3 full.

Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown.

Makes 12 muffins
