Recipe(tried): Tamale Pie from an Albers yellow corn meal box

Main Dishes - Casseroles
This is the recipe I was looking for last week.

TAMALE PIE

4 tbsp shortening
1 clove garlic, minced (I use 1 1/2 tsp. minced from a jar)
1/2 cup chopped onion
2 pounds hamburger (lean is best)
COOK UNTIL MEAT IS SLIGHTLY BROWNED.

THEN ADD THE FOLLOWING:
2 cans (14.75 oz each) cream style corn
1 (28 oz) can stewed tomatoes
1 tbsp chili powder
3 tsp salt
LET MIXTURE SIMMER FOR 20 MINUTES.

THEN ADD SLOWLY, STIRRING TO BLEND WELL:
2 cups yellow corn meal (uncooked)
2 cups tomato juice
1 to 2 cans pitted olives

POUR MIXTURE INTO A LARGE GREASED BAKING DISH OR PAN AND BAKE FOR 30 MINUTES IN A PREHEATED OVEN 350 DEGREES F.

SERVES 8.
Hope you like this as much as my family does.
