Walnut Date Snack Bars
Recipe By : Pillsbury Bake Off 1996
Serving Size : 24

1 package Yellow cake mix
3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
3/4 cup butter -- melted
2 eggs
2 cups dates -- chopped
2 cups walnuts -- chopped

Oven to 350, Generously grease 9 x 13 pan. In large bowl combine cake mix, brown sugar, blend well, add butter and eggs beat 2 minutes at medium speed.

In medium bowl combine dates, walnuts, mix well, stir into cake mixture, blend well. Batter will be stiff. Spread evenly into greased pan.

Bake for 35 to 45 minutes or until edges are golden brown. Cool 10 minutes, run knife along edges to loosen. Cool one hour, cut into bars. Store in tightly covered container.
