Recipe(tried): Wilted Lettuce Salad and Dill Wilted Lettuce for Tina - IL

Salads - Assorted
This recipe is from Betty Crocker's Cookbook. It is for lettuce but but I don't know of any reason that you could not use it for a Hot Spinach Salad.

Wilted Lettuce Salad
4 servings
"Wilted lettuce won't wait. Serve immediately to enjoy it's peak flavor."

2 bunches leaf lettuce, washed
4 slices bacon, diced
1/4 cup vinegar
1/3 cup chopped green onions
1/4 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
2 tsp. sugar

Just before serving, shred lettuce with knife (about 4 cups). In a large skillet, fry bacon until crisp. Add vinegar; heat through. Remove skillet from heat; add lettuce and onion. Season with salt, pepper, and sugar; toss 1 to 2 minutes until lettuce is wilted.

Variation
Dill Wilted Lettuce: Stir 1/2 tsp. dill weed and 1/2 tsp. dry mustard into vinegar while heating.
