Misc.Between the fact that canned beans have quite a bit of salt in them, and the fact that cheese is salty, it seemed best to have "salt and pepper to taste" in the ingredient list rather than suggesting that a particular amount be added. I always find that added salt is not needed in this recipe, at least not for our tastes but everyone's taste buds are different so while I find no extra salt is needed, someone else might want to add some.
