Thank You: Christmas Anise Cutouts - This was always a childhood favorite of mine!

I was looking for a "better" recipe than the one I had (my mother's) because the dough is a little hard to work with (although I did get into the hang of it by the batch's end).
Is anise oil that you get from the drugstore (at least years ago) the same as baking anise oil? Can you still buy it from the pharmacy? I really like to taste the anise! Is essential anise oil (aromatherapy) the same...can you eat it?
I'll have to try all these recipes!
I noticed a lot of local responses to this post! Is this a local cookie, due to the large Polish population?
