Misc. I hope you have taken advantage of the search feature here on the site - a little time consuming but tons of ideas.
Here's something I do that's looks wonderful but couldn't be easier. Put a large dip of good quality vanilla ice cream in a red wine goblet and drizzle strawberry or raspberry sauce over the top, just not too much (but you have to strain the raspberry sauce to get those seeds out. (You can make a more complicated sauce but just the berries whirled in the blender with sugar to taste is good.) Use any fruit you like but the red "shows" nicely. On short notice, I've even used this idea and drizzled a little chocolate sauce over the top. I usually put a little dab of whipped cream to top it off. I once dipped the ice cream out ahead and put the goblets in the freezer but didn't like the "frosted" look of the glass when removed. So I generally scoop out how many ever you need onto a cookie sheet before guests arrive and then fill the waiting goblets just before serving. A parfait glass or other wine glass works too. A selection of small cookies (or bar cookies or mini-muffin cakes) on a pedestal cake stand also looks a bit elegant to pass around the table with the ice cream or with...
fresh fruit cup in a glass dessert goblet topped with a small scoop of orange sherbet. Many times I cheat and buy a big jar of fresh fruit. It's mostly oranges & grapefruit so be sure to add apples, bananas or whatever else.
