Recipe: Spiced Nectarine Slices (1982)

SPICED NECTARINE SLICES

1 1/2 cups water
3/4 teaspoon whole cloves
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon salt
4 large nectarines, peeled and thinly sliced
1/2 cup sugar
3 tablespoons lemon juice

In 10-inch skillet over medium heat, heat first 5 ingredients to boiling; boil 2 minutes.

Add nectarine slices; cook until tender, about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Toward end of cooking time, stir in sugar and lemon juice. Refrigerate.

Makes 16 accompaniment servings
