When I was in the service my wife sent me Nestle's Tollhouse cookies. I opened the box and each cookie was wrapped in plastic wrap. She had to wait until they almost cooled, then she wrapped them. They tasted just-baked but then it only took a week to get them. You might try that, though. God Bless him and the others there with him and you too. It's not easy being separated from loved ones.
Been there, done that.
