Here's what I do....

I rinse my lettuce and drain well. The I tear it into bite size pieces and put it in a large resealable bowl. But instead of closing it with the lid as usual, first put a large piece of paper towel over the top, then close as usual. The paper towel absorbs the liquid that forms on the underside of the lid, and somehow keeps the lettuce fresh much longer, almost a week.
