Mastercook

Misc.

Laurel:
I have Mastercook Deluxe Suite 4.07 and like it very much. No, my computer is not in my kitchen, it is upstairs in my office. What I do is search for a recipe that I want to use and then print it out. When I'm done, I throw out the paper. (I usually save paper that is used on one side only to use again on the clean side.) However, many of the recipes that I have put in Mastercook are only lists of ingredients from recipes that I have in a cookbook in my collection. That way when I search for a recipe using ingredients or the recipe title, I only jot down the Cookbook and page number of the recipe and then use the recipe from the book.. I would say that the bulk of my recipes are really just an index of my cookbook collection since I have about 100 cookbooks of all kinds.
I do type in recipes from magazine clippings and newspapers as well as importing some from the "net" sometimes. It is a whole lot neater than files and piles of clippings and index cards scattered about.

Good luck with Mastercook. It takes some learning to get used to the software. I would read the Sierra Home Cooking Message Board before deciding to buy the Mastercook 5.0. I'm happy with 4.07 and don't plan to upgrade this time.
