Hey - I am not alone

Misc.

Hi everybody!! I was totally amazed to see the responses to this request. I had often felt like I was the only one that hoarded clipped magazine recipes, cookbooks (lots of those at the check out counters!!), etc. I was really glad to see that more people struggled with organization - I AM NOT ALONE!!! I have been copying recipes to index cards for about 20 years, and I have BOXES of them, all organized even. I do sort through them every year or so, and throw out or give away the ones I don't want. About a year ago I began using the page savers and notebooks idea, however this does not work with the cut-out recipes. I also have trouble remembering "which book did I see that recipe in?" What I have done is put a post-it note (large) on the covers of those I use most often with the recipe name and page number, and put those books on the middle shelf of my cookbook shelves. About six months ago I bought a computer (for the kids, of course!!), and have spent many happy hours surfing and copying recipes from many links. I simply copy them and save them in files in my documents folder on my desktop, organized by general catagories (cookies, cakes, pies, mixes, food crafts, etc.). When I bought the computer, a must was a scanner, purchased with the intention of scanning my recipe collection, however there are too many on the sites that I haven't had time to do this. Maybe someday!! I am just thrilled that I can count myself among other "collectors". You made my day!!!
