Nutritional advice to Needy in NC

Misc.

Hi
If you daughter has decided to become a "vegan" vegetarian and not to comsume
any animal products(no dairy or eggs), I would suggest that she visit a
dietician. I have a college education in the nutrition field and I have heard
and read alot about people who choose the vegan lifestyle over the ovo-lacto
style who are uneducated and cause problems to themselves. Strict vegetariens
must take vitamin B12 supplements because animal derived sources are the only
source of this vitamin. Many vegans are B12 deficient. Make sure that she is
imformed and educated about the choice that she has made. I think that the
books that the others have mentioned are great but I would also suggest the
advice of a professional who is able to work one on one with her. Good luck
and take care.
