This is my mothers recipe and its Wonderful.
BUTTER CREAMS
4 cups sugar
2 cups evaporated milk
1 stick (1/2 cup) real butter
dash salt
Cook this over medium heat to a soft ball stage. Cool it in the sink with cold water, then stir till it sets up.
You can roll it into balls or any shape you want. Put them in a very cold room or the fridge for awhile, then dip in your melted chocolate and let set up.
Variation:
MAPLE CREAMS
This makes wonderful maple nut creams too. Add maple flavoring chopped nuts, cool and dip in chocolate.
Hope you enjoy...they are worth the trouble.
