Cabbage Casserole

Here's my favorite casserole. It tastes just like cabbage rolls, but you don't have as much work to do. This will make 8 large servings, at a cost of about $0.75 per serving. It is great re-heated.
1. Coarsely chop 1 medium cabbage and place in a large roasting pan.
2. Mix up 1 lb ground beef and 2 cups of cooked rice with some salt and pepper. Spoon this mixture over the cabbage and press it down a bit.
3. Chop 1 or 2 large onions and 5 or 6 slices of bacon. Saute this with 1 tablespoon of paprika for about 10 minutes. Spoon over the meat/rice mixture.
4. Mix together 1 can (19 oz?) tomato sauce, 1/4 cup lemon juice, 1/2 cup brown sugar, and about 1/2 cup water. Pour the sauce overtop of everything. Poke some holes in the meat so the sauce can drain down to the cabbage.
5. Cover the roasting pan with its lid or with foil, and bake at about 325 for AT LEAST 2 hours. The longer you cook it, the nicer the cabbage will be.
