Recipe(tried): Chopped Steak and Gravy - I will give my technique.
Main Dishes - Beef and Other MeatsDEZZ:
Good Evening. I do not have any information about S & S cafe recipe nor there technique. No matter, My way is their way. This dish is not rocket science. I make this dish twice per month. I will post my technique & I honestly believe you will find it more than just adequate for your taste buds. Nothing can be easier than this dish.
Take 8 oz (1/2 pound of chopped beef of your choice). Form it by placing a sheet of aluminum foil on the bottom of a 8-inch flat bottom fry pan. Make a round ball shape with the meat. Place the pan over the meat and press down. Then with your hands shape this hamburger steak into a rectangle shape and then flip on the other side and repeat. Repeat till you are happy with the shape and appearance. It should be 1/2-inch maximum thick.
Now then broil this steak in a George Forman type of grill.
Meanwhile, combine:
1 (10 1/2 oz) of either brown gravy or mushroom gravy
approx 5 TBSP finely chopped up onions
1/4 cup to 1/2 cup of green peppers, cut-up into approx 1/4 inch pieces (or a combination of green and red)
half of 1 (4 oz) can of mushrooms (optional)
Heat over low heat for about 4 minutes or so. Ladle over cooked steak.
Come back and let us know how much you enjoyed this recipe. It's mine, not from a book. Good Luck.
