Recipe: Cloud Nine Butterscotch Squares (using oats, chocolate chips, and pudding mix)

1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
1 (3 3/4-oz) pkg instant butterscotch pudding mix
2 eggs, beaten
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup all-purpose flour, sifted
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 cup milk
1 cup quick-cooking oats or old-fashioned oats, uncooked
1 (6 oz) pkg semisweet chocolate pieces
prepared or canned chocolate frosting
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 9-inch square baking pan.
In large bowl of mixer beat butter until creamy. Add dry instant pudding mix; beat until light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla; mix until well combined; set aside.
Sift together flour and baking powder.
In two additions of each, add milk to creamed mixture alternately with sifted dry ingredients, beginning with milk. Mix well after each addition. By hand stir in oats and chocolate pieces. Spread batter evenly in prepared baking pan.
Bake at 350 degrees F for 20-25 minutes. Cool completely on wire rack.
Spread with chocolate frosting. Cut into squares.
