Recipe: Custom-Made Applesauce (microwave)

Custom-Made Applesauce

8 Apples, peeled, cored, and cut in chunks (Golden Delicious, Granny Smith, Newton Pippin, Rome Beauty, or Winesap may be used)
1/3 cup water
1/4 cup sugar (or to taste)

In 2-quart microwave-safe dish, combine apples and water. Cover with lid or vented plastic wrap and microwave on High (100 %) 12 to 14 minutes or until apples are tender. (If microwave does not have carousel, rotate dish every 4 minutes.)

Stir in sugar and one choice of flavoring.

Flavorings (choose ONE):
1 tsp. grated lemon peel
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg

Makes 4 cups
