Recipe: Easy Bars (using cake mix and pie filling)

EASY BARS

1 (2-layer size) box cake mix*
1 (20 oz) can pie filling*
2 eggs
Frosting (recipe follows)

Beat (dry) cake mix, pie filling and eggs together well. Spread in a greased 10x15-inch pan.

Bake 25 to 30 minutes at 350 degrees F. Cool and frost.

FOR THE FROSTING:
1 cup white granulated sugar (or 1/2 cup brown sugar)
3 Tbsp. butter
3 Tbsp. milk
1/2 cup chocolate chips (or butterscotch chips)

Combine sugar, butter and milk in a saucepan. Bring to boil and boil for 30 seconds, stirring constantly. Remove from heat, add chocolate chips or butterscotch chips. Beat well and spread on bars.

*For chocolate cake mix, use cherry pie filling. For yellow cake mix, use raisin pie filling. For spice cake mix, use raisin or mincemeat pie filling.
